First dates can put us on a roller coaster of emotional ups and downs from excitement to nervousness to enthusiasm to fear. In the dating seeking world we are looking to find a mate and we need to hone in all of those emotions on the first date and try to relax, first and foremost. If we can take some time before the date to calm our jitters, that would be a great help. For the ladies, maybe take a bubble bath. For the men, play some XBOX or watch a movie. Don’t waste your whole day focusing on the date. Keep your mind occupied and stay normally busy through the day. If you constantly think about the date throughout the day, you’ll create an even greater sense of nervousness.
When dating seeking don’t be late. You want to create a great first impression. If you’re running late due to unexpected circumstances, make sure to call your date. That will do wonders to show your responsibility. You don’t want to do anything that purposefully paints you in a bad light, especially in the beginning as you are just slicing the surface of getting to know each other.
Be yourself and try to help your date relax as well. Muster up your self-confidence and don’t be overly prideful, but be confident in who you are. This will help ease the jitters and you both will be able to relax more. Do not monopolize the conversation, but balance that with being a good conversationalist. Try to get to know your date and show him or her that you are not there to talk about yourself but to find out what makes him or her tick. Don’t allow dead silence. There will be time for comfortable silences in your relationship down the road when talking is not always necessary, but don’t let that happen on a first date. It will cause great discomfort and hinder you from having a good time. Hopefully, you both hit it off and the conversation will flow easily. Remember when dating seeking its best to smile, too and be pleasant. Body language is important so don’t cross your arms a lot. That shows that you are not open.
As you are talking to your date, think of yourself as a reporter trying to get to the heart of the story, but don’t ask embarrassing questions or anything too personal. That is not good first date conversation material. You’re trying to show that you have a genuine interest in getting to know this person, without sounding like a stalker. Remember to always be polite, but at the same time be genuine. Acting like a fake is the easiest way to not get asked out on a second date or to get rejected when you ask her out on a second date. People want the real deal. Be yourself. If you can’t win her heart by being yourself, you need to keep dating and seeking the right one. Don’t force something that doesn’t come easily; when it’s right, you’ll know it. If you’re not sure, give the person a chance and go out on a few more dates. By then you should know if you two hit it off and you want to pursue getting to know this person.
